Why 'The Atlantic' sucks

Today for about the seventh time in the last two weeks — since election day certainly — I have attempted to go to Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish column. I have enjoyed Andrew's take on the world for several years. However, some geniuses at The Atlantic have invented a Flash ad.

This ad loads in Firefox 3.0 and just begins to load and then goes nowhere. There is no close, play, go fuck yourself or any other way to actually get the the column. They have effectively ensured that you do not read Andrew or any other author in The Atlantic. You have to love stupidity…

wouldn't it be cool...

Three months — and counting — ago, I ordered a front rack from CETMA racks for my bike. Normally, this post would — and may — get posted to my bike blog but this is more technologically related so here it is.

I am completely in the dark as to what the status is on this rack. Most of this falls into poor customer service. But again, this is one guy making racks, so I do cut him some slack. I have emailed, phoned, and used Google Checkout to no avail. I have no fucking idea what the status is of my rack.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone built a queue manager where as Lane @ Cetma received orders, a queue was built. Everyone in the queue could see where they were in said queue. This would make things easier on Lane since he would not have to respond to me or any of the others who's patience is being tried by these delays and lack of information.

I cannot imagine that there are other companies that would be sorely in need of such a tool. Just in my areas of interest, I could think that most small bike manufacturers could use this and really anything that had to be special-ordered or custom-made would certainly be perfect for this. Just go to the web site and look up the queue to see where you are on the list.

Desktop shortcuts

Why do company's think it is a good idea to put ads on your desktop? I just got a damn Java update installing an ad for OpenOffice… Intuit is horrible with this. If you don't pay attention, you will end up with 10 shortcuts on your desktop for shit you don't or shouldn't want.

Livin‘ on the bleeding edge

I have been using both VMWare Fusion 2.0 Beta and Firefox 3.0 RC1 and one of the two of them is industrially fucking up my system. I have had activity monitor showing my CPU as pretty much pegged and I can only shutdown and start again…
